Getting to grips with the discussion forum

Discussion forums play a very important role in an online course.

They allow you to express yourself, ask questions, enrich the course with your knowledge, share information and experiences... So don't hesitate to make them your own! The teaching teams are on hand to support you in these areas. We would remind you that any content that is offensive, inappropriate, totally off-topic or resembles advertising or spam will be moderated.

The tutorial below will help you find your way around these discussion areas and get to grips with the various forum functions.

Accessing the discussion forums from the "discussion" tab

You can access all the discussions from the "Discussion" tab in the horizontal menu of each course.


Each type of discussion often has a thread associated with it, whether it's to introduce yourself, discuss the content of the course, ask questions about the organisation of the course or technical questions...

Don't hesitate to consult the existing threads (as in the example above) and preferably reply in them.

Each course offers a general forum, but may also offer forums dedicated to specific themes or uses. These additional forums will be located within the course. However, you can access all the forums in the course by clicking on the "Home" icon at the top left of the forum area.

A search engine lets you see whether your question has already been asked in the forum you are visiting (simple search) or in all the forums in the course (advanced search).



By clicking on the "New discussion" button, you create a new discussion introducing a new topic or a subject that has not yet been discussed.

Remember that the more discussions you create, the more difficult it is to read the forum menu. We recommend that, wherever possible, you reply in existing threads.
