I have taken most of the quizzes and yet I do not have a high enough total score. Why?

Courses often include different types of assessments: practice exercises, end-of-section quizzes, final quizzes, and so on. These assessments carry different weights in your overall grade:

  • Practice exercises usually have no weight in the total assessment, so they won’t appear on your progress chart.

  • End-of-section quizzes, typically found at the end of each module, can have varying weights in the total assessment.

  • Final assessments, usually at the end of the course, also carry variable weights.

The course teaching staff determines how much each type of exercise contributes to your overall grade. For example, they might decide that end-of-section quizzes make up 60% of the total grade, while the final assessment accounts for 40%. These different weights are represented by different colors. In the graph below, for instance, weekly assessments are shown in light red, while the final assessment is in dark red:

So, even if you have answered the majority of the assessments, you may not get a sufficient total score because of the weight of the different assessments.
