# What is a self-paced course?

Most of the courses offered on FUN are in the form of sessions (see this article: [What does a course session mean?](/doc/what-does-a-course-session-mean-JLMhyDl80N)). 

In addition, other courses are offered in a self-paced format, that is to say "at your own pace". 

They generally last 1 year.

**Registrations**

Registration is possible for the entire MOOC duration.

**Content**

As with the course sessions, the whole content of self-paced courses remains accessible as long as you are enrolled.

**Ratings**

Several evaluation periods are planned. These are generally announced in the “Course Info/News” tab.

**Badges**

Since January 2024, badges have been generated automatically once your request is made within the course. Generation typically takes place a few weeks after your request is approved.

Some courses offer a paid certificate option, and may or may not include badges. Please consult the 'Evaluation' section on the course presentation page for more information.

**Forum**

The teachers cannot be available throughout the course, which is why they have scheduled hours for the forum. You will find the dates in the “**Course information/News**” tab.
