What is the difference between the badge, the attestation, and the certificate?

The courses offered on our platform are free.

Most of our courses offer either a free badge, which certifies that you have achieved the required score for the exercises, or a paid certificate that corresponds to an exam (usually online and proctored), for which your identity has been verified.

The attestation of achievement (or free certificate) was available on FUN before the introduction of badges. It has been replaced since September 2022. However, the attestations previously obtained remain valid.

To check if a course offers a badge, attestation, or certificate, you can refer to the information in the "Assessment" section on the course homepage.

Both the badge and the certificate confirm that you have completed the MOOC and obtained an average grade equal to or higher than the threshold set by the course instructors. These two documents do not have official value.

Some MOOCs offer the option to obtain a certificate. To do so, you must register for the certification course (paid), where you will take a remotely monitored exam. This certificate, although not a diploma, guarantees that you have successfully completed the exercises under exam conditions and that it was you who took the exam (your identity is verified). This ensures that you did not cheat, and that no one else took the exam for you. In certain cases, the certificate may allow you to earn ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System) credits, but this is not always the case. The teaching team specifies this on the course presentation page when applicable.

The certificate can be a valuable asset for professional development, especially for your resume, access to training, and/or job search, though it does not constitute a diploma recognized officially. It demonstrates your interest and investment in a specific area.
